Hollyhock Flowering Season in India

• for North & Central India — Delhi, UP, MP, Rajasthan, Punjab, etc.
• July–August : Sowing in seed trays or nursery beds.
• September–October : Transplant seedlings into the garden or large pots.
• November–December : Plants grow tall with leafy stems.
• January–March : Peak flowering season — tall spikes full of colorful blooms.
• April : Flowering tapers off as temperatures rise.

For South India & Coastal Areas

• Sow in September–October for flowering from December–February.
• They may flower a little earlier because of the warmer climate.

Instructions for sowing / planting

Prepare Soil:

1. Use drained garden soil, mix soil with compost or organic manure. 
2. Preferred mix: 2 parts garden soil + 1 part compost + 1 part sand for good drainage.
   

Sowing Seeds:

1. Sow seeds 0.5–1 cm deep. 
2. Space seeds 15–20 cm apart.
3. Water lightly after sowing.

Germination:

1. Seeds germinate in 7–14 days. 
2. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged.
   

Transplanting:

1. Transplant seedlings when they are 10–15 cm tall. 
2. Spacing after transplanting: 45–60 cm apart (Hollyhocks grow tall and need space).

Growing Tips: 

1. Place in full sun (at least 5–6 hours daily). 
2. Stake tall plants to protect from wind.
3. Water regularly during dry spells.
4. Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms.

Fertilizer:

Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 15–20 days for healthy growth.
